چکیده
Electrical injury is a serious public health problem. Heart is one of the most frequently affected organs. Electrical injury can cause life-threatening cardiac complications such as asystole, ventricular fibrillation, and myocardial rupture. In this case report, we present a 20-yr-old male patient with sick sinus syndrome that developed years after electrical injury.

Intravenous Methylprednisolone, a Possible Cause of the Atrial Fibrillation
We are presenting a case illustrating atrial fibrillation (AF) following the use of methylprednisolone in a patient with pelvic and femur fracture. A 48- year- old man with no significant past medical history, was admitted to the emergency department after injury in a car accident. He suffered a multiple bone fracture with chief complaints of pain and shortness of breath. He was transfer...
متن کاملTransient Notch Activation Induces Long-Term Gene Expression Changes Leading to Sick Sinus Syndrome in Mice.
RATIONALE Notch signaling programs cardiac conduction during development, and in the adult ventricle, injury-induced Notch reactivation initiates global transcriptional and epigenetic changes. OBJECTIVE To determine whether Notch reactivation may stably alter atrial ion channel gene expression and arrhythmia inducibility. METHODS AND RESULTS To model an injury response and determine the eff...

node as the region responsible for activation of the heart.1 Laslett first suggested sinus node dysfunction as a cause of bradycardia in 1909, and during the 1950s and 1960s Short, Ferrer, Lown, and others described the clinical spectrum of sinus node dysfunction that is commonly called the “sick sinus syndrome resting sinus bradycardia.”2-5 Sinus node dysfunction can have multiple electrocardi...
متن کاملMalignant Lymphoma Demonestrating Sick Sinus Syndrome and Superior Vena Cava Syndrome
Reports which describe sick sinus syndrome due to malignant lymphoma have been rare and only eight cases have been reported until now. This is a case of sick sinus syndrome and superior vena cava syndrome secondary to invasion of occult malignant lymphoma of the lung in a 60 years old male. There were no symptoms or signs of malignancy before the first presentation with sick sinus syndrome. Pat...
متن کاملInherited Arrhythmias in Children
Sinus node dysfunction has been described as an inherited (autosomal recessive form) problem by Benson et al1. The cause seems to be certain specific mutations on the SCN5A gene. Patients with long QT type 3 (SCN5A mutation) have sinus bradycardia as part of the spectrum of abnormalities in this disease2. Atrial standstill is a rare condition where the atrium is silent i.e. there is no electric...
